Building Fire Update
The 14,800 square foot building that caught on fire within the Meridian Business Park this week is part of a business park development near the Moreno Valley/March Field Metrolink Station. The fire was contained yesterday and a fire watch company remains on site to monitor the building for any flare ups.
While the cause of the fire is not yet determined, MJPA found that the tenant for the building occupied the building without proper permits. Neither MJPA nor Riverside County Fire have records of the use. The building has been tagged and closed off from public access and violation notices have been issued to the property owner. The property owner is actively cooperating with officials and hired contractors that have started to work through the compliance process. MJPA and County staff continue to work together on solutions to address unpermitted uses in the area.
